About the Position

This position will coordinate the management of asset information, asset management systems and asset management improvement within the City Assets Branch. This will support the asset lifecycle planning and financial management functions including strategic planning, asset performance analysis, condition assessments, maintenance planning, and asset revaluations. This role will also lead and guide a team of asset system and data / information management personnel involved with as-constructed information processing and quality checks, asset data analysis, data visualisation application development, and asset management system module implementation. This position will also provide professional guidance and advice to staff on asset data management practices and asset management system functionality to address business needs.

Key deliverables of the position:
  • Lead and guide a team of staff responsible for asset management system functions and asset information management within the City Assets Branch.
  • Develop and implement a multi-year Strategic Asset Systems & Information Plan to support asset lifecycle management practices and investment decisions for the branch’s transport, flood mitigation and drainage, and beaches and waterway asset portfolios.
  • Lead the implementation of the improvement of asset management system functions/ tools to support the asset lifecycle management needs of the branch, including mobility for the capture of asset and condition information.
  • Oversee the continuation of the branch’s multi-year Asset Data Improvement Program.
  • Lead the development and ongoing support for data visualisation applications including GIS Story Maps and dashboards to enable the visualisation and accessibility of the branch’s asset information.
  • Be actively involved and the ability to influence in cross-directorate asset management system and asset information management improvement discussions and initiatives.
  • Be accountable for the quality, timeliness and accuracy of asset data and information in accordance with corporate and branch requirements.
  • Provide expert advice to the branch on asset management system functionality and asset information management practices to deliver best appropriate practices asset management.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring of the asset information team for continual improvement
About You

  • Proven ability to lead staff and provide guidance in the field of asset management systems and asset information management.
  • Proven experience and knowledge of strategic, tactical and operational asset management with a strong focus on the impact of data and information for evidence based decision making
  • Proven experience in contemporary asset management practices
  • Excellent interpersonal, stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with particular emphasis in the areas of consultation, negotiation, influencing, conflict resolution and assertiveness in order to resolve organisational issues and meet changing organisational needs.
  • Deliver high quality services to customers (both internal and external) and understands and reacts responsively to customer expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • develop and motivate professional and technical officers;
    • monitor workloads, performance and outcomes;
    • establish effective work procedures and processes;
    • foster a positive team environment; and
    • A demonstrated commitment to safety from both a leadership and personal perspective.
