A large local government in far north Queensland is seeking an experienced Coordinator Transport & Traffic

Your new company
Is a local government based in far north Queensland. Due to one of their Senior technical staff going on maternity leave shortly, they are looking to engage the services of an experienced Senior Transport Engineer with background in Traffic Engineering and/or Transport Planning to play a key role in their team.

Your new role
Working in multidisciplinary team this role provides professional transport engineering advice within the Road Infrastructure Planning Branch, other Council entities and external organisations as required. This includes provision of advice to

  • Transportation and Infrastructure Planning program on various stages of transport network planning
  • Development Assessment branch in relation to road access and traffic impact assessment matters
  • Road Infrastructure Delivery program on road design and other various road infrastructure delivery matters concerning traffic standards, signs, line marking, and local area traffic management
  • Department of Main Roads, Queensland Transport on traffic safety and effectiveness matters especially concerning the State and Local infrastructure complementary impacts on traffic management

What you'll need to succeed
Candidates would need to be tertiary qualified Civil Engineer recognised by Engineers Australia ideally with professional registration with CPEng / RPEQ.

Candidates would need extensive knowledge of and experience in transport network engineering practise, including traffic management, functional road classification, traffic operation and design, transport legislation, regulations and standards This technical expertise would be allied to strong stakeholder engagement skills, allowing the incumbent to be properly consultative to both in house and external stakeholders.

This role will be an interesting and challenging workload with an employer that values strong work life balance. Contract is for a fixed 12 month period. Council is offering $115,000-$130,000 + Superannuation working a 9 day fortnight.
