Our public sector client is seeking a Principal Planning Officer (AO7) to join the team. This position will see you working with key design and delivery stakeholders to develop facilities briefs, business cases and review designs for new infrastructure projects across the state. You will work collaboratively to manage expectations and ensure projects are delivered within scope and budget.

Key duties:

  • Support the delivery and lead the analysis and reporting of specific infrastructure planning programs.
  • Contribute to the establishment of policies, processes and tools for the delivery and implementation of quality frameworks to identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Contribute to the development of performance measures to evaluate and report on specific infrastructure planning programs.
  • Identify, research, develop and analyse complex policy options and provide high level, client-focused advice to internal and external customers on a broad range of strategic infrastructure policy, planning and management activities.
  • Represent the department at high-level negotiations in a variety of forums on issues relating to the functional area of the branch and unit.

The successful candidate will:

  • Experience in planning options analysis, project planning, financial management, negotiation, stakeholder management & project delivery
  • Demonstrated high-level ability to manage work in terms of timeframes, budget and quality
  • Qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in either architecture, structural engineering, construction management or a similar built environment field

It is expected that the successful candidate will possess strong oral/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. They will display initiative, attention to detail, and have the ability to work autonomously and unsupervised whilst contributing to the wider team's objectives.
