The University of Queensland’s Faculty of Medicine is an internationally recognised provider of world-class education and research. The Faculty of Medicine offers Australia’s largest medical degree program for graduates and school-leavers. Undergraduate and postgraduate programs are available in the disciplines of Medicine, Health Sciences, E-Health, Mental Health, Biomedical Sciences and Public Health.

The Faculty possesses enormous strengths spanning research, teaching, industry engagement and clinical practice in disciplines ranging from the basic sciences, biomedical research and development, to clinical trials and public health.

About This Opportunity

As Manager, Teaching and Assessment Support, the successful applicant will be responsible for leading and managing the Office of Medical Education (OME) professional staff team to deliver curriculum support for the medical programs, including the Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Postgraduate Course Work (PGCW) programs.

General duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work collegiately and collaboratively with academic and professional stakeholders to ensure the strategic priorities of the portfolio and faculty are met;
  • Effectively manage the OME professional staff team including the overall supervision of staff, performance appraisal and staff development, management of resources across multiple campuses and clinical units, planning and developing budgets, and review of activities against targets;
  • Manage, plan and oversee the delivery of teaching and assessment support;
  • Implement recommendations for curriculum development adhering to University policy, procedures and guidelines.

The role is based at the Herston campus, UQ’s core campus for clinical health teaching and research, and reports through to the Senior Manager, Student and Academic Administration.

Our Ideal Candidate

Alongside the completion of a postgraduate degree and extensive relevant university experience, or an equivalent combination of management expertise and extensive relevant experience, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Leadership skills in building a strong, positive culture within a complex and geographically disbursed operating environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including a demonstrated history of building and maintaining productive working relationships with other organisational units;
  • Expertise in using large student administration systems and associated corporate systems to source data and deliver reports;
  • A thorough knowledge of student and academic administration legislation, policies and procedures, and the ability to interpret, apply and provide high level advice.

What We Can Offer

The full-time, continuing position at HEW Level 8.

The full-time base salary will be in the range $100,264 - $112,583 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $117,309 - $131,723.
