Torres Strait Island Regional Council (TSIRC) prides itself on being an employer of choice. TSIRC is one of two local councils found in the Torres Strait and represents 15 'outer' island communities each with its own unique characteristics and service requirements.

About the role:

This role reports to the Manager of Information and Technology Services and is responsible for the following:

  • Provide ongoing high-level support and administration of Council's record keeping system and software applications suite and enterprise systems, to ensure availability and make improvements
  • Provide advice, support and direction to employees on the implementation of effective and compliant information and records management
  • Support employees in the extraction, storage and consumption of information from a range of Council information systems.

You will:

  • Provide high-level technical support, training and advice related to all Council applications and information systems including Technology One, Windows Office suite, ECM Telstra MBRS and Crystal Reports
  • Coordinate support requests with software vendors to resolve user and system issues as required
  • Maintain accurate document control within ECM
  • Assist with production, manipulation and utilisation of data sets across a range of information systems and formats
  • Provide advice, training and support to employees in relation to records management in all Council areas (including identifying, developing and implementing appropriate record-keeping systems, to ensure complete and accurate records are captured, created and maintained in accordance with Council Policies and legislation)
  • Manage archival storage (retention schedules), transfer of records to State Archives, and regular records destruction program, in accordance with relevant standards and approved destruction schedules
  • Work with State Records to ensure the Council meets its statutory requirements in relation to the State Records Act

To be considered for this role you must have:

  • Formal qualifications in Records Management and/or 3 to 5 years experience in a similar role
  • Extensive Information Technology skills and knowledge in software applications including MS Office suite (emphasis on MS Excel), database management, Electronic Records Management Systems (preferably Technology One's ECM)
  • Experience in Business Intelligence methodologies and reporting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to be culturally responsive by demonstrating an understanding of the issues affecting Torres Strait Islander people and communicating with sensitivity and effectiveness
