About Department
St Vincent's Operating Suite currently houses 12 theatres, 12 anaesthetic rooms and a Post Anaesthetic Care Area. Working alongside the Sterile Processing Centre, Day Procedures and Endoscopy Centres the department undertakes over 9,000 procedures per year in a vast range of highly specialised and complex specialities over a 24 hour period, 7 days per week.

About the Role
The Grade 2 Registered Nurse, under the guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager or Associate Nurse Unit Manager, will be responsible for the delivery of expert clinical care in his/her specific area. The Grade 2 Registered Nurse will be responsible for ensuring his / her own professional development in order to maintain clinical skills and knowledge.

Classifications for this position will range from YP3 - YP11 ($67,236 - $89,902 per annum).

Duties

  • Managing the physical and emotional well-being of the patient
  • Administration of medication in accordance with hospital procedures, protocols and policies
  • Assist with medical and diagnostic procedures carried out in the unit
  • Document, observe and report relevant nursing findings within the framework of nursing progress
  • Liaise with patient, patient's family, medical and ancillary staff as required or requested

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Degree in general nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Current practicing certificate with AHPRA
  • Facilitate team outcomes in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Assist and support change and implement process improvements
  • Communicate effectively, with patients and staff at all levels
