About Our Client

This nationally recognised enterprise financial services organisation is enjoying an exciting period of growth. As they look to achieve greater scalability and continue to utilise the latest Azure BI technologies to provide insights to the business with a view to improving efficiency and achieving positive outcomes.

This is a brand new role, one of two available to lead established teams, creating a Team leadership layer between the 2 data teams and the Data & Analytics Manager.

Job Description

Key duties will include:

Data and Analytics

  • Lead the delivery of fit for purpose reports, dashboards, data extracts, advanced analytics and other data products consumed by business stakeholders;
  • Collaborating with leadership and project resources to prioritise requests, provide delivery estimates and keep stakeholders informed of delivery progress;
  • Recommend enhacements to the Data Warehouse and business intelligence capability, with focus on stability, availability, performance and business outcomes;
  • Lead the ongoing analysis of business performance, ensuring the business can make evidence-based decisions to improve that performance;
  • Leverage collected data to provide insights into trends, opportunities and risks across all aspects of business and industry performance;
  • Mentor team members in best practise use of data analysis technologies, including SQL, Power BI, R and Python.


  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels across the organisation to ensure alignment on delivery priorities and opportunities to enhance existing reporting and analytics offerings;
  • Collaborate and engage with other members of the data leadership team to achieve shared goals, optimise team outcomes and deliver a best in breed data, reporting and analytics service to clients;
  • Support the Data & Analytics Manager to provide advice and thought leadership to ensure successful design and implementation of data and reporting roadmaps that align with divisional goals and strategies, and balance project delivery outcomes;
  • Ensure the team maintains, creates, collaborates and shares knowledge in appropriate documentation spaces;
  • Manage employee performance and ensure that the Reporting and Analytics squad are empowered to deliver results;
  • Foster a team culture that supports innovation, collaboration, trust and appropriate risk taking;
  • Inspire, coach and develop staff to ensure the delivery of business performance and personal growth opportunities.

The Successful Applicant

Skills and experience required:

  • Technical leadership experience in a complex environment for a medium-large sized organisation in a data related discipline (Reporting/Analytics/Data Warehouse/BI/Data Science);
  • Mastery of reporting and analytics technologies, including SQL, Power BI, R and/or Python;
  • Experience in the implementation of a quality client focused service delivery culture in a medium sized corporate environment;
  • Strong ability to understand business problems and processes, and consequent data required to analyse and address them;
  • Well-developed analytical ability to interpret and communicate data analysis to stakeholders;
  • Strong knowledge and experience across various data analysis platforms;
  • Deep understanding of data warehousing, including best practice methodologies and their application within highly governed, corporate environments;
  • Experience working in a federated data environment;
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring members of the team;
  • Proven ability to effectively plan, prioritise and manage multiple and competing activities to deliver data and analytics services to meet business expectations;
