We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Finance Business Partner to join our SEQ Assets Finance department. Based in our Brisbane CBD office, this role will see you acting as the first point of contact for the Asset Planning & Engineering (AP&E) team on any finance related matters. This will include providing the AP&E management team with advice, monthly reporting and support on all facets of financial performance through high quality analysis and interpretation.

While reporting, budgeting and forecasting are key traditional elements of this role, so too is the development of relationships with the management team in order to understand the business area and to partner effectively.

Position responsibilities:
1. Manage the development, production and analysis of high-level performance reports and advice as well as detailed supporting data to meet the financial information needs of managers and staff at various levels.
2.Engage with business managers on a regular & ad-hoc basis. Present monthly financial results at their meetings and help them understand opportunities for improvements. Assist them and their support staff in planning, forecasting and budgeting activities.
3. Establish and maintain systems to manage and support the planning, forecasting and budgeting processes. This includes monitoring performance against relevant targets.
4. Complete, or assist the business with the completion of, period end financial processes including invoicing, accruals, recording of assets and capital and operating costs, transfers, or other similar journals processed by centralised financial accounting team.
5.Review of business cases and provide reliable advice on the accounting treatment of capital project expenditure. Assist project managers & asset owners with the accurate & timely of recording of new assets (Fixed Asset Register) or operational expense generated by capital projects.
6. Co-ordinate analysis and other investigations to produce accurate, relevant and timely information and advice to monitor and manage business performance.
7. Pro-actively analyse complex financial issues (e.g. stocktake and valuations, application of accounting standards, financial governance arrangements etc) to provide advice and recommendations.
8. Work effectively in a professional team that is customer and results oriented, including contributing where required to broader SEQ Finance issues.

Applicants with Accounting qualifications (and preferably CPA) will be highly regarded for this role. Also important are well-developed communication skills and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.

Key selection criteria:
1. High level of skill in working as a key contributor in a dynamic, high performing team of professionals.
2. Extensive knowledge of contemporary financial accounting concepts, especially with respect to financial planning, reporting and associated systems and processes.
3. High level of skill in the timely production, analysis and presentation of complex financial information to enable senior management to make informed decisions.
4. High level of interpersonal and relationship management skills including influencing, consultation, liaison, negotiation as well as oral and written communication skills.
5. Substantial knowledge of core financial systems and processes with specific emphasis on ensuring efficient business process, timely cost capture and high data integrity.
6. Knowledge of and willingness to commit to and work within Queensland Rail's Values and Behaviours.

Position Description

Contract type: Permanent, full time.
Annual salary: $110,328 + super
