Based in Cairns, you will be responsible for working effectively and efficiently as a member of a semi-autonomous team safely performing tasks in accordance with the requirements of Queensland Rail and the Workplace Health and Safety Act.

About the role

  • Contribute to the work output of the team by carrying out duties in a responsible manner in accordance with competency allocations.
  • Working on Timber and steel at heights in all weather conditions
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the Safety Management System.
  • Carry out all work in accordance with the requirements of the Network Integrated Management Systems, Business and Divisional Instructions to ensure minimal loss to people, property, processes and environment within their section of Network.
  • Ensure safe working practices are adhered to and relevant work standards are met in accordance with Queensland Rail's policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and contribute to the development of new work practices.
  • Work within the guidelines of Queensland Rail's Employee Management System.

About you

  • Comply with Queensland Rail's Code of Conduct.
  • Observe all legal and safety obligations of the organisation.
  • Travel away from home and work within the District and work outdoors in and around track equipment and structures as required.
  • Attend further training as required.
  • Work outside normal hours as required including shift work.
  • Work at heights, travel and work under difficult and trying conditions on flood repair and other emergency work, working on Timber and Steel concrete structures.
  • Being in possession of various trade tickets, machinery and licences such as Bobcat, Truck HR /HC, excavators, Cranes would be ideal.

The starting salary range on offer for this role is $51647
