We are currently looking for motivated, driven individuals to commence an Electrical Fitter Mechanical Apprenticeship in Townsville.

What will your journey involve?

The apprenticeship is competency based and will run for approximately four years and is subject to the successful completion of all requirements and assessments. Current 3rd and 4th year Apprentices are also welcome to apply.

Responsibilities include:

  • Under guidance, assist with and participate in the construction, maintenance and installation of electrical equipment and systems
  • Meet obligations contained in Apprentice Training Contract. Including but not limited to attending block training, complete E profiles / on-the-job logbooks in a timely manner
  • Maintain records relating to asset condition, maintenance programs and costing systems
  • Actively participate in team and safety meetings, and contribute to the development and implementation of performance improvement initiatives
  • Participate in the implementation and application of work procedures and practices in pursuit of assuring and continuously improving quality

To be successful in gaining an apprenticeship with Queensland Rail you will need to demonstrate a willingness to learn and a passion for the trade. The ability to work in a team environment and follow instructions with a commitment to safety at all times is essential.

One of these roles will be required to work various shifts (including nights and weekends if required) based at home station in Townsville, doing fly in/out to Cloncurry and surrounds under the supervision and training of our Qualified Signal Electrician on a 8 on 6 off roster. This position will require regular travel to remote locations on the Mt Isa Line so flexibility and a commitment to this Apprenticeship is a must. There is also a requirement for this position to travel across the state at times.

Those applicants with a current QLD Manual Driver's License will be highly regarded.
