About the position

Roads, Drainage and Foreshores Maintenance North are seeking to appoint a motivated individual to join their team as an Maintenance Worker - Waterways.

Based at one of the City's depots, the position incumbent will, under the general direction of the Leading Hand, form part of a work team that perform specialist tasks associated with the maintenance of the City's waterways and foreshores.

Please note, the successful applicant will be appointed at the appropriate level based on qualifications, skills and experience between state levels 5 and 6.

Key deliverables of the position:

Responsibilities and duties of the role incumbent include, but are not limited to;
  • Performing supervised tasks associated with the maintenance of the City's beaches and foreshores.
  • Maintenance of Tidal Stormwater Drainage Systems, Revetment Walls, Fencing, Open Drain Systems, Pontoon and Jetties.
  • Complete various organisational forms.
  • Control of public at worksites.
  • Manage work orders in SAP via a mobile device (iPad).
About you
  • Demonstrated ability to operate minor equipment and machinery associated with various works tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with others in a manner conducive to creating a cooperative team environment with an ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Sound physical health to enable incumbent to satisfactorily perform the physically demanding duties of this position
  • Effective numeracy and literacy skills commensurate with the requirements of the position

About the branch

If successful, you will become a valued member of the City Maintenance branch. The City Maintenance branch is responsible for maintenance and cleaning services for the City's infrastructure assets which includes: buildings, bridges, parks, landscapes, roads, footpaths, beaches, canals, stormwater drainage and lakes.

These services are delivered in partnership with the respective asset custodians through service level agreements that define the roles, responsibilities, service and service level to be provided, with regular partnering meetings to monitor progress.
