The Role

A vacancy currently exists for a Geologist within the Mine Technical Services department. Reporting to the Senior Geologist, this vacancy represents an exciting opportunity to join a leading Sub Level Caving operation.

This role is responsible for managing all geological aspects of our large scale Sub-Level Caving operation, working in collaboration with the wider Mine Technical Services team

This full time position is offered as DIDO from Mount Isa or FIFO from Brisbane, Townsville or Cairns working an eight (8) days on, six (6) days off roster. Alternatively offered as residentially based in Cloncurry, (relocation, and locality allowance provided), on a five (5) days on, two (2) days off, four (4) days on, three (3) days off roster.

Key Responsibilities Will Include
  • Managing all geological aspects of our large scale Sub-Level Caving operation, working in collaboration with the wider Mine Technical Services team;
  • Underground mapping, underground production & development inspections, core logging, QA/QC, daily grade tracking activities, collecting hydrogeological data; and
  • Assisting the mine geology team with defining the Mineral Resource through diamond drilling and structural wire framing interpretation.

The Successful Candidate Will Possess
  • Previous experience in a metalliferous underground mining environment;
  • Experience with mining software packages;
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications with at least 2 years post graduate experience;
  • The ability to work autonomously and within team environments, while demonstrating strong communication and organisational skills;
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality and best practice concepts to encourage a safe and efficient working environment are required; and
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, in relation to both technical and operational personnel.
