Our Organisation

The South West Indigenous Network (SWIN) is a not-for-profit organisation which is dedicated to increasing the health, fitness and wellbeing of Indigenous communities in South West Queensland.

SWIN was established in 2000 to provide targeted and cohesive sport, physical activity and recreation opportunities for the Indigenous people across the Darling Downs and South West.

In that time, SWIN has built a strong suite of programs and events that provide opportunities for South West communities to engage, connect and participate in. SWIN also maintains an active member base and delivers networking opportunities for sport and recreation professionals across the region.

SWIN has the cultural knowledge, community networks and professional framework to successfully connect community, business, industry and government to achieve meaningful outcomes for the health and wellbeing of Indigenous people in South West Queensland.

The Role

SWIN is seeking a dynamic and motivated administrator to support the efficient and effective functioning of SWIN's business interests. Working closely with the SWIN Executive and a small staff team, you will be the backbone of the SWIN organisation and will enable the organisation to grow and succeed.

Responsibilities & Duties

To achieve the outcomes required by this role you must be able to:

  • Support the day to day administrative requirements of the business within scope set by the SWIN Executive.
  • Contribute to and coordinate where appropriate SWIN’s major events .
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships on behalf of SWIN with key stakeholders including local media, commercial partners, service providers & members.
  • Provide support to Service Coordination team on travel, purchasing, procurement and processing.
  • Ensure SWIN Board receive accurate reports on the costs and effectiveness of administrative activities and major events.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations including MOU and organisation specific contractual arrangements.
  • Undertake a range of tasks as required by the SWIN Executive from time to time.

Key attributes

With the context of the duties described above, the ideal applicant will be someone with:

  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.
  • Proven experience in and knowledge of office administration, preferably in a non-profit context.
  • High level interpersonal skills including the ability to promote SWIN to external stakeholders and media.
  • Proven experience in working in small teams and ability to plan and deliver events.
  • High level computer literacy and financial acumen.

Blue Card

This role provides education, coaching and/or services to children and young people and therefore you will require a Blue Card, unless otherwise exempt. Please refer to the Public Safety Agency Blue Card website (http://www.bluecard.qld.gov.au) for further information.


C Class Driver’s Licence

Funding Conditions

Funding conditions require that this position have extensive experience in working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. It is mandatory that your resume includes a reference check by a person of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent that can demonstrate your experience in working with Indigenous Australians.
