A State Government department that oversees assets maintenance and facilities is seeking Condition Assessors

Your new company
This well-known organisation in Cairns plays a major role in the procurement and contract management of building, social housing, and construction and maintenance services for the Queensland Government.

Your new role
The primary position is to undertake inspections and condition assessments of buildings and building related assets, in order to identify building components, elements, sub elements and construction materials. Information is gathered in accordance with the client's requirements.

The responsibilities of the position include:

  • Undertaking and coordinating the delivery of a condition assessment service for clients, including inspections / surveys of building elements and construction materials including collecting samples of suspected asbestos containing materials for laboratory testing.
  • Researching, evaluating and updating information on buildings and building assets (e.g. maintenance records asset information, previous building management plans, etc.) and using this information to produce detailed, high quality Maintenance Assessment Reports for the client.
  • Maintaining an up to date knowledge and understanding of relevant Codes of Practice and legislative requirements of management and safe handling of Asbestos Containing Materials and provide recommendations and strategies in managing existing Asbestos Containing Materials based on risk and future use of the asset.

Please note you may be required to travel away from home for extended periods of time.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful you will be trade qualified or have a relevant tertiary qualification combined with a comprehensive understanding of the Australian building standards. Strong communication skills combined with strong computer skills are required, allowing you to liaise with the client, office staff and all parties on site.
