We are seeking a skilled and vibrant leader with experience in coordinating and supervising teams in large multifunctional leisure centres to join the leadership team of Leisure Services at Campbelltown City Council!

As part of the Community Businesses section, the Leisure Services team focus on the delivery of customer centric services and programs that meet the health and wellbeing needs of Campbelltown’s growing community.

About the role:

In this position, you will be responsible for the supervision and management of the operations of Council's Gordon Fetterplace Aquatic Centre, ensuring the success of its services and programs, thereby supporting the Operations Manager in meeting the current and long-term needs of the community.

Council's facilities currently include;

  • Eagle Vale Central
  • Macquarie Fields Leisure Centre and Macquarie Fields Fitness and Indoor Sports Centre
  • Gordon Fetterplace Aquatic Centre

As a Leisure Centre Supervisor you will be responsible for:

  • The day to day operation of a multipurpose leisure facility, ensuring a strong focus on the delivery of high quality customer focused services and programs.
  • The management of staff including performance, completion of annual staff appraisals and the review and approval of staff rosters and weekly timesheets.
  • Compliance with legislative, industrial and Council policy requirements and standards.
  • Meeting all Work, Health and Safety (WHS) and risk management requirements including reporting and investigation of all facility incidents and hazards, coordination of team WHS training and emergency preparedness.
  • The development, review and implementation of facility operational procedures, policy and WHS documentation.
  • Liaison with internal sections of Council to ensure that all building maintenance is undertaken in a timely manner to meet Council’s standards and operational needs.
  • Contribution to the development and implementation of annual business and marketing strategies with a view to increasing exposure in the community and usage of services and programs.
  • The management of the facility budget, coordination of the delivery of capital works projects and analyse of the facility’s services and program success and utilisation.
  • Undertaking comprehensive research, write correspondence and reports in relation to the facility and its services and programs.
  • Delivering regular and systematic reports to the Leisure Facilities Lead on the financial and usage (attendance, occupancy, retention rates, enrolments and bookings) indicators of the facility and its services and programs.

In order to contribute to the quality and consistency of service delivery, organisational requirements and team building, this position will be required to rotate between Councils Leisure Facilities every two years.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

  • Considerable experience in coordinating, supervising and leading teams and individuals in large multi-service leisure centres.
  • Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate field preferred.
  • Possess a Certificate IV in Sport and Recreation SIS40115, equivalent or higher preferred
  • Possess a current Pool Lifeguard certification and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, local government policy and practice, industrial relations and budget control.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing the financial outcomes of a leisure centre.
  • Demonstrated experience in management and review of WHS processes and documentation.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of operational procedural manuals and policy documents.
  • High level organisational skills and the ability to plan workloads in an often reactive environment.
