About Department
Education and Learning is a multi-campus unit overseeing the education of staff across St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne.

About the Role
This position, reporting to the Simulation Coordinator, will support the facilitation of simulation-based education and other education activities to both SVHM staff and external participants.

The Education and Simulation Instructor will partake in education activities that engage with a variety of disciplines within the broader hospital community. This role also incorporates participating in the development of new and innovative education programs that continue to support patient centred care and patient safety.

In addition, the Education and Simulation Instructor will support programs that involve the teaching lab, School of Anatomy and other education initiatives within the Education and Learning team.

The classification for this position will be YZ8 ($54.21 per hour)


  • Assist external educators to implement their programs within the centre on the day of the courses
  • Facilitate pre and post course administration and pack up/ clean up
  • Assist in the development and implementation of various education programs and projects across multiple disciplines including medical, nursing and allied health
  • Participate as faculty for a variety of simulation-based courses
  • Provide technical support to educators running simulation courses i.e. running the simulator, AV equipment, part-task trainers or participating in role play where required.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Degree in Nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or equivalent qualification in another health related discipline.
  • Current AHPRA registration where applicable
  • Post graduate qualifications in a relevant nursing specialty
  • Previous experience in a clinical education role (preferably simulation-based)
  • Robust knowledge of Basic and Advanced Life Support with current qualifications in both
