Within the Student and Corporate Services Division, you will be part of a busy team within a challenging, yet supportive environment. Dedicated to quality service, we are responsible for the overall financial management of the University, as well as reporting on past performance, analysing future strategic and financial directions for the overarching CQUniversity community, and ensuring governance restrictions are met.

You will be working closely with the Deputy Director, Corporate Budget to provide high level financial and business operational support, and coordinate the activities of staff involved in the preparation of budget and forecast processes to achieve efficient, and effective economic outcomes for the University. You will assist the Deputy Director, Corporate Budget in developing and maintaining budget and forecasting models that are appropriate for the funding position of the University, ensuring they are reviewed regularly to reflect the University’s changing needs. You will prepare and maintain the annual budget and forward projections for your nominated responsibility centres, and provide reports that enhance and reflect the University’s financial operational, strategic direction and manage variance risks.

Position Requirements
  • Thorough and detailed knowledge of management accounting, especially budget and forecasting and finance policy concepts and processes.
  • High level computing skills to effectively undertake financial analysis and reporting through spreadsheet and finance specific software and knowledge base to contribute to the development of a large Financial Management Information System.
  • Membership of a suitable professional body holding CPA or CA qualifications.
  • High level leadership and management skills within a multi-functional workplace; leading and influencing others in the achievement of organisational outcomes and working effectively with stakeholders to ensure accurate and relevant information is provided to project management, committees and external stakeholders including funding bodies to meet the challenging timelines.
