The Department

This role sits within our Governance team which is part of the Governance and Executive Services department. The Governance team plays a central and coordinating role in Council, providing expert advice and administrative support to the Chief Executive Officer, elected members and the wider organisation on a range of legislative and integrity matters. The team is also responsible for leading the delivery of initiatives to support strong local governance and supports Council to deliver on each of the strategic priorities identified in the Corporate Plan in an ethical and efficient way.

About our opportunity

As the Principal Corporate Policy Officer you will play a key part in leading the continuous improvement and ongoing implementation of Council’s governance and corporate plans, policies, processes and systems, supporting Council’s commitment to strong local governance and transparent decision making.

You will be a source for expert and strategic advice to the CEO, Directors and other council officers on governance and corporate policy matters within a local government context, contributing to ensuring Council’s compliance with relevant legislation. Your ability to effectively engage with a range of stakeholders will assist as you prepare and present complex reports, briefing notes and presentations.

About you

You will be an exceptional communicator and be experienced in effectively developing and implementing quality governance and policy projects, ideally within a government context.

With your quality interpersonal skills you will be able to quickly develop and facilitate senior level partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders, and you will be well adept at preparing high quality strategic plans, policies, multi-faceted reports, briefings and presentations.

Your will be excited to take on this challenge and play a key part in driving continuous improvement throughout our Council.

Term: Maximum Term Full Time
  • until end February 2022

Award/Level: Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream A) - Level 8 of the Moreton Bay Regional Council EBA4 Certified Agreement

Location: Strathpine

  • $107,954pa + super (up to 12%) + leave loading
  • 72.5 hour fortnight
  • 9 day fortnight
