St Vincent's Hospital is a 400 bed tertiary referral and University of Melbourne teaching hospital located in the central business district of Melbourne. The Emergency Department provides care to approximately 42,000 patients per annum, with a 40% admission rate. Rotations can include Emergency Medicine at St Vincent's, Emergency Medicine at Warrnambool, Anaesthetics or ICU at either St Vincent's or Werribee, and Relief rotations.

Intensive Care

This position is designed for residents seeking a career in Intensive Care medicine and will include rotations through ICU and other areas of critical care at St Vincent's and affiliated hospitals. Supervision and training are provided from our tertiary ICU, with the expectation that you will learn core ICU knowledge and skills including vascular access, airway management, and respiratory, cardiovascular and renal support over the year.

You will have the opportunity to meet foundation requirements for entry into the CICM training program, access to our well-established ICU examination preparation and education sessions, and the prospect of entering a multi-year pathway offering core ICU in a tertiary (C24) centre, anaesthetics and medical rotations in addition to clinical research projects.
