  • This position requires the successful applicant to be available to work any 5 out of 7 days as part of the ordinary hours.

Our Venue:

The Queensland State Equestrian Centre (QSEC) located at Beerburrum Road Caboolture, Queensland, is a 30-hectare equestrian and major events precinct operated by the Moreton Bay Regional Council. At the heart of QSEC is a covered 3000 seat main arena and adjoining second arena and 154 permanent stables. Combined with expansive grounds and camping areas, QSEC offers significant opportunities for a wide variety major events and activation.

About the Opportunity:

As our Venue Manager at the iconic Queensland State Equestrian Centre you will have the opportunity to take the reins of this newly developed role, lead our team and create a dynamic and engaging place for our community to enjoy!

You will build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders bringing new and exciting events to our venue. You will facilitate the utilisation of the venue with commercial operators, securing major events and venue hire - offering a wide variety of events including equestrian, catering, sports and entrepreneurial activation.

You will manage the day to requirements of the venue inclusive of our team, budgets, compliance, maintenance and program management for events.

You will be assisted by our Major Venues communications and business operations officers and liaise with other Major Venue Managers at the Morayfield Sport and Event Centre and the Redcliffe Entertainment Centre to maximise utilisation across all Venues. We are team players who love cross collaboration, shared networks and knowledge!

About you:

We are seeking a passionate and talented Venue and Events specialist who is ambitious about taking ownership of our unique venue to deliver and design our future vision. You will understand what it takes to successfully deliver general day-to-day programming of a major venue in addition to delivering major regional, national or international events.

You will hold a degree in Events Management, Marketing or related discipline or extensive experience in lieu of qualification and previous experience in a similar role with proven success is an essential for this role!

We are looking for a key leader to set the standard and the tone for the venue with proven skills to inspire positive change and a customer focused culture.

You will have:

  • extensive knowledge and experience in the management of an equestrian or major event centre and the delivery of events across a diverse range of disciplines
  • exceptional communication and negotiation skills to engage stakeholders, develop partnerships, and secure major events for successful delivery of organisational strategies and objectives
  • excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal, driving engaged and constructive outcomes to meet the needs of a range of key stakeholders
  • highly developed time management skills to achieve proficiency and effectiveness in managing conflicting priorities and meeting deadlines.

Work Location

Please note that whilst the current work location for this position is specified above, staff may be required to transfer to any of council's work locations with notice. Council currently has administration offices located at Caboolture, Strathpine and Redcliffe as well as depots, libraries and a range of other facilities located throughout the region.
