GenHealth Inc is a not-for-profit non-government multi-disciplinary organisation providing evidence based primary, specialist, allied and health promotion services. The organisation's provision of accessible and cost-efficient health services is a vital contribution to the wellbeing of individuals, families and the community. GenHealth is lead agency of the Coffs Harbour Women's Health Centre, headspace Coffs Harbour and headspace Grafton.

headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds, along with assistance in promoting young peoples' wellbeing (www.headspace.org.au). This is achieved through the Federal Government's funding of headspace Centres throughout Australia via Healthy North Coast. These Centres provide an entry point for young people to access a broad range of services.

headspace Coffs Harbour aims to:

  • promote early identification and effective, evidence-based interventions;
  • improve access to mental health services; and
  • specialist providers and primary health care working together within an accessible and integrated service framework.

About the role

The Reception team provides administrative support to members of the headspace Coffs Harbour centre team in order to facilitate a high level of care for young people in a youth-friendly environment. The Receptionists ensure professional and confidential administration services are provided to support effective service delivery and day-to-day functioning of the headspace centre.

We have a vacancy for a casual to support the current Reception team. Initially, approx. 15 hours per week are available, plus additional hours on a needs basis, including to provide planned holiday relief for staff, as well as relief at short notice (eg sick leave cover).

A full list of key duties is outlined in the Position Description, but includes responsibilities in:

  • Front of office reception tasks
  • Medical and general administration
  • Data entry and record management
  • Privacy and confidentiality

About you

You will have experience in a similar role and an understanding of the day-to-day functions of a medical or administrative service. You have excellent interpersonal skills and can tailor your communication to suit interactions with clinicians, young people and their family/friends, and external stakeholders.

Ideally you will have the flexibility and availability to work any day of the week (Monday to Friday only – no weekend work required), and have capacity to relief for staff who are on leave, sometimes at short notice. You will also have:

  • Time management and organisational skills and ability to prioritise work
  • Experience in medical practice reception/software systems and medical terminology
  • Experience in office procedures and administration
  • Current NSW Working With Children check or the ability to process an application for a check immediately
  • A willingness and enthusiasm to gain new skills and a passion to work with youth
