Our Teams are involved in large scale multi-million-dollar projects across all civil infrastructure disciplines, currently delivering a large number of key major projects including the Wiri to Quay Park, Northern Network Transportation, City Rail Link and there are several other exciting opportunities on the horizon.

The Project Procurement Advisor is responsible for the oversight and implementation of procurement processes within the Infrastructure Projects business, including subcontractors and major suppliers.

About the role:

You will work closely with the Project and Operational Management teams to:

  • Ensure a consistent and sound approach is taken to procurement throughout the Downer business;
  • Support new projects at an early stage with the development of initial procurement plans, assisting drafting of project specific subcontract/supply agreements and ensuring due attention given to any 'critical supply' subcontractors/suppliers;
  • Develop our people's procurement skills through the above being carried out in close collaboration with the project teams;
  • Working with the New Business team, including upskilling and supporting critical procurement activity on bids pre-submission and during ECI;
  • Communicate to the wider team any relevant initiatives and mandatory requirements of the Downer National Procurement Team

About you:
  • NZCQS or NZCE, National Diploma or equivalent industry experience.
  • Fully conversant with all aspects of procurement and common head contract forms utilised in New Zealand.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise appropriately (including escalation of issues if necessary);
  • Able to work effectively remotely
  • Flexibility in location will be required as the role may require being based at project sites for periods of time as project requirements dictate
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a team essential
