The company

Our client is one of Australia’s leading diversified energy infrastructure businesses across gas and renewable assets. As an organisation they are located in all mainland Australian capital cities, as well as regional centres and towns scattered across the thousands of kilometres of infrastructure that they manage and operate.

Reporting to the Community and Social Performance Manager, a new role has been created for a Social Performance Advisor on a permanent, full-time basis.

The role

As the Social Performance Advisor you will advise and provide support on the implementation and coordination of group-wide community and social performance strategies and outcomes (including local procurement, Indigenous employment, training, sustainable development and sponsorship outcomes).

You will also be responsible for coordinating and providing subject matter expertise for the implementation of the First Nations Strategy and development of a Reconciliation Action Plan.

Additionally you will:
  • Strengthen internal awareness, understanding and consideration of First Nation People across internal business groups
  • Coordinate National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC activities, in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Provide support for the implementation of the Sustainability Strategy, including contributing to annual voluntary sustainability reporting.
  • Review and provide advice on documents developed by other business functions in relation to;
    • social impact assessments
    • social impact management plans
    • sustainable development plans
    • community/stakeholder engagement plans
  • Manage the delivery of a centralised reporting systems/capability for governance and evaluation to measure social impact and return on investment
  • Develop and implement an internal awareness and education program which promotes sustainable development and community partnerships as a key element of employee engagement and Company purpose
  • Manage the use CMS systems for capturing community and Indigenous engagement data, in particular, ensuring consistency of use, monitoring of trends and review/reporting of consolidated asset information
  • Support the effective implementation, management and coordination of sponsorship programs and community investments
About you

You have an appetite and passion for indigenous issues and a pragmatic approach to bringing an organisation along on the journey. You have demonstrated change management experience where you have strengthened organisation social performance, community consultation, sustainable development and management processes.

Ideally you will have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in related discipline and a minimum of 8 years’ experience in corporate sustainability
  • Good knowledge and practical experience (minimum five years) in the areas of social performance, human rights, Indigenous engagement, formal consultation processes, sustainable development principles
  • Strong experience working with internal and external Indigenous communities, including the implementation of Indigenous Relation Strategies and RAPs
  • Proven collaboration skills with both diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong financial acumen and financial literacy, including ability to manage sponsorship programs
