RentConnect Officers work within a team in a Housing Service Centre, providing high quality person-centred housing assistance and advice to diverse customers with complex support needs, advocates and other stakeholders. Our focus through our housing and homelessness services is to create better housing pathways, that will promote growth, enable prosperity, create connections and instill confidence, providing every Queenslander with the opportunity to fully participate in social and economic life.

The RentConnect Officer Delivers The Department's Products And Facilitates Customer Access To The Private Rental Market, As Well As Assist Customers To Sustain Private Tenancies By

  • Assessing and appropriately responding to client needs, including assessment of a client's housing need, and their ability to sustain a tenancy in the private rental market.
  • Providing private rental assistance to clients with a housing need including information, education, coaching and advocacy to help clients find, secure and sustain suitable private rental accommodation.
  • Establishing, strengthening and utilising strategic networks and individual relationships with local real estate agents and lessors, non-government and government human service providers, temporary accommodation providers and local government agencies.
  • Developing and maintaining current knowledge of the local rental market and housing options available.
  • Actively participating in local initiatives to improve inter-agency linkages and service delivery.
  • Developing effective relationships and networks within the broader housing and support systems to enable appropriate referrals to support services.
  • Contributing to the supervision of staff.
  • Leading, coaching and mentoring Housing Officers in the delivery of basic RentConnect services.
  • Supporting and helping maintain a workplace safety culture by ensuring that all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety are applied and a part of day to day operations.
Field work is a regular requirement of this role. Conditions in the field are changeable and can be volatile, requiring varying degrees of vigilance and management of risk. A driving licence is required for this role.
