About the Role

The BOQ Data & Analytics team is critical to the commercial success of the business, leveraging the latest cloud technologies to deliver a world class data engineering, data governance and analytics capability.

As Head of Technology - Data & Analytics, you will lead a high performing team that plays a critical role in shaping the data that is to be consumed and managed by the business for commercial and regulatory needs. Working with leading technology partners such as Microsoft, Cuscal, Databricks and others, you will lead the evolution of our data infrastructure into the Open Banking ecosystem and drive data driven innovation to reshape the customer banking experience.

This is a truly transformational role offering exceptional scope and the opportunity to assimilate BOQ’s existing data and analytics functions to uplift and build on BOQ’s data capability. You will be both hands-on, and strategic, capable of driving collaboration cross-functionally across BOQ to uncover opportunities to provide meaningful insights through exceptional data practice.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Champion mission, vision, strategic objectives and plans for Data Platforms and Analytics and ensure alignment with BOQ’s leadership and stakeholders.
  • Establish a data and analytics operating model that encompasses people, process, technology, and governance with measurable business value.
  • Drive innovation and identify opportunities for the organization to further leverage data and analytics to improve its economic, competitive, and operational positioning (e.g. AI/ML, microservices, etc.).
  • Understand and monitor the regulatory and security requirements for the overall data ecosystem, ensuring compliance, controls and proper protection.
  • Advocate for and champion a data-driven culture, supporting related competencies and data literacy across the organisation

To be successful in this role:

  • You’ll be passionate about data management and platforms and have experience successfully leading highly technical teams.
  • You’ll have excellent stakeholder engagement, demonstrated capability in influencing outcomes and the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration by providing meaningful data and insights.
  • Have knowledge and experience with best practice data modelling and warehousing principles
