JOB DESCRIPTION

Churches of Christ in Queensland, Nubeena Retirement Village, Toowoomba

Permanent, full-time opportunity

Are you interested in joining a human services organisation to make a real difference in people's lives?

About the role

Are you a master at multi-tasking hands-on gardening and maintenance services within a large retirement living environment? You will be a dedicated, experienced and organised Gardener/Maintenance Officer looking for a new challenge.

Nubeena Retirement Village has expansive gardens and you will be providing lawn and garden maintenance, tree and shrub pruning, hedging, garden refuse removal, and minor maintenance services. Providing appropriate gardening for all common areas, you will also be responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance duties across our Retirement Village.

You will maintain an inventory of equipment and ensure it's in accordance with manufacturer recommendations. Along with relevant record keeping and administration, you will ensure all practises are completed in a timely manner, including all planned and programmed gardening and maintenance.

About you

You are a self-starting and driven individual who loves working collaboratively as part of a team, however, you are also capable of working on your own. With your highly developed customer focus and excellent service skills you resolve gardening and maintenance issues as they arise.

You have proven knowledge and physical capacity to use and maintain equipment as required by the role. Your ability to work autonomously and manage your own time is exceptional. You have a welcoming, caring, compassionate nature and are ever ready to provide support.

To be suited to this position ideally you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in a handyman/maintenance role (previous retirement living experience highly regarded) with physical capacity to carry out maintenance duties as required;
  • Home and/or garden maintenance certificate would be an advantage;
  • Ability to maintain and develop relationships with internal and external services providers;
  • Applied knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety requirements, or ability to acquire same within one month of employment;
  • Ability to operate windows applications at a basic level, including the following applications: Outlook, Internet Explorer;
  • Possess a current Queensland driver's licence (or ability to acquire same within 1 month of employment).

Importantly, you will be someone who closely aligns with our organisational values of: modelling unconditional love; behaving with integrity; and being good stewards.

Please note, all employees working within our residential and community aged care will need to be immunised for Influenza. If you have already received your flu vaccination, we ask that you provide proof as part of the recruitment process.
