'Nowadays you don't even see your neighbours'. Loneliness and isolation is a fact in the lives of far too many older Australians. And not only those who struggle to stay in their own homes. Disconnection touches almost everyone over 65 as work ends, friends, relatives and partners pass on and the neighbourhood around them changes beyond recognition.

And, according to the experts, prolonged loneliness is a killer. Sad, lonely and disconnected from social, emotional and community stimulation, people often lose hope of a brighter life – and simply give up.

But one fantastic non-profit here in Queensland – idea of the CEO to whom you’ll report – is simply not allowing that to happen.

It has set up a wonderful system that combines the generosity and compassion of ready volunteers with caring professionals like you who run the show. Some programs include visiting seniors in their place of residence, while others provide them with the technology (and skills) to enjoy remote visits.

Generally, respectful friendship and support and the opportunity to have a chat is all many lonely people need to encourage them to flourish again. Connected and engaged, participants overcome the loneliness and depression that causes so much heartache as they once again find pleasure in daily living.

As the Frontline Administrator, you will be the first point of contact for the organisation.

A solid customer service background is essential – although not necessarily in a non-profit environment. Warm and friendly, calm and unflappable you are a natural `people person’ who will take genuine pleasure in the business of the day.

As a skilled and enterprising customer service professional, you’ll always be quick to spot opportunities for ‘going the extra mile` for clients and colleagues. Experience has made you an expert at sorting situations, suggesting solutions and finding the answers your caller is looking for. And you enjoy that responsibility.

With proven attention to detail, a quick intelligence and great IT competencies - especially across Microsoft Office including the Teams application - you’ll enjoy uploading voice recorded data and documents from program participants. But you’ll also be a central point of support for staff members while learning valuable new ‘business smarts’ from an outstanding CEO. This is a happy, busy, important and engaging role where you will find genuine satisfaction by getting in and “giving back” to some of our community’s most vulnerable people.
