JOB DESCRIPTION

Windlab is a global renewable energy development organisation owned by Squadron Energy and Federation Asset Management. They own and exclusively utilise their suite of industry best practice tools to develop, finance, construct and operate utility scale wind farms and renewable energy assets globally.
Currently Windlab has amassed a portfolio of wind farm development sites totalling over 7GW of capacity across North America, Australia, New Zealand and Southern Africa having already completed the development of over 1GW capacity spanning 3 continents.

About the Role

Based in Windlab’s Brisbane office you will be managing and leading the company’s multi-gigawatt Queensland wind portfolio including both greenfield development and pre-approved, ready to construct projects. The role is a blend of both hands on development work and team leadership of both junior and senior development managers based in the Brisbane office.

Main Responsibilities

Leading the Queensland development team on a portfolio of projects across the state ensuring they are delivered to schedule and budget
Supporting the career development of staff and colleagues in the Brisbane office
Supporting the Executive Management Team with business development planning
Working to establish and maintain sound relationships with local landowners, communities, local, state and federal government, regulators, contractors and various stakeholders
Promoting Windlab’s award winning community engagement scheme

Team Responsibilities

Overseeing full life cycle development on utility scale wind energy projects
Negotiating land agreements and permits
Preparation and management of project development schedules and budgets
Managing both in-house personnel and external consultants
Regulatory and environmental permitting for Federal, State and Local land use and transmission requirements
Maintaining key project registers and risk management/ mitigation
Preparing detailed reports for EMT and board including performance against schedules, budgets and key project progress

Skills and Experience

Essential
Bachelor level degree qualified (or equivalent) in engineering or related science
Over 10 years’ experience in project management and development of large scale infrastructure / energy development projects
Proven track record of leading and managing high performing teams to drive energy/ infrastructure projects from concept and site selection through to construction
Excellent communication skills and ability to negotiate, influence and persuade stakeholders from a diverse and varied background to promote favourable oCompanyomes for the company
Strong analytical and problem solving background

Desirable

MBA or advanced degree in business
Utility scale wind/ renewable energy project experience
The position would require regular travel to various sites and locations across Queensland and to Windlab’s other offices when needed.
