About the role

Mater’s External Relations, Marketing and Engagement portfolio has an exciting opportunity for a talented Communications and Engagement Manager to join the team in a full-time permanent capacity. Reporting to the Director, Engagement you will be based at our South Brisbane campus. this position will help support Mater Health through a time of exciting transformational change.

This role will protect and enhance the Mater brand and support business revenue and growth targets by contributing to and managing the communications and engagement strategy for Mater in Queensland, in line with the strategic business and marketing objectives of the organisation.

This role is also responsible for developing and maintaining effective working relationships with key stakeholders across all levels of Mater throughout Queensland whilst managing a small, newly formed team.

What you’ll be doing

You will develop, implement, manage and evaluate effective localised communication and engagement strategies for Mater and its subsidiary businesses in line with the state-wide corporate strategy and initiatives.

Act as the first-port-of-call for local media and communications enquiries.
Management of the websites and social media platforms, in line with Mater’s online and social media strategy.
Work collaboratively with the wider External Relations, Marketing and Engagement team and build strong, effectively relationships in all Mater locations.
Provide strategic communications and engagement advice to local executive members, senior staff and colleagues, with the guidance and support of the External Relations, Marketing and Engagement team.
Drive new initiatives and opportunities locally and strive for continuous improvement and effectiveness of all activities.
Manage all local projects, events, and campaigns within budget and allocated timeframes.
Actively work with colleagues locally to identify, develop and support the genuine integration of health, education, research and philanthropy at Mater.
Support the Director Engagement to achieve the organisation’s strategic and operational objectives.
Willingness to travel regularly to Mater’s locations within Queensland to support local teams.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated success in a similar role, coupled with knowledge of contemporary marketing and communication principles and evolving trends

Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in marketing and communications.
Five years’ minimum experience in a similar senior/management role with exposure to complex group environments.
Demonstrated experience in delivering successful brand, communications marketing strategies to achieve the business objectives of an organisation.
Proficiency in managing brand assets, digital asset management systems and digital platforms.
Understanding, and experience in, using effective strategies to increase localised NPS and generate positive community perceptions of the Mater brand.
Experience working with professionals in a fast-paced service delivery environment.
Exceptional record of achievement in marketing and communications across different industries.
Strong understanding of brand development, voice, value and management.
Ability to lead and work effectively in a team.
Ability to engage and foster a positive work culture within the team.
Skilled to plan and coordinate multiple projects within budget and allocated timeframes.
Ability to work calmly under pressure and against tight deadlines.
Self-motivated with proven ability to effectively problem solve in a highly complex environment.
