Full Job Description
The CCQ supports the State Coroner's statutory function to oversee and coordinate the Queensland coronial system by providing registry, administrative and legal support to seven full time Coroners and two Coronial Registrars.
Under the Coroners Act 2003, Coroners are responsible for investigating reportable deaths that occur in Queensland. This investigation seeks to determine the identity of the deceased person, when and where they died, how they died and the medical cause of death. Where an inquest is held the Coroner may make recommendations about public health and safety or the administration of justice aimed at preventing similar deaths from occurring in the future.
The CCQ has staff located in Brisbane, Cairns, Mackay and Southport working in a team-based structure to support coronial investigations and to support the general functioning of the office.

As Information Coordinator, you will lead a small team to facilitate and process requests for the release of coronial information and investigation documents under the Coroners Act 1958 and Coroners Act 2003, including to families, other persons with sufficient interest and genuine researchers.
