About The Role

As our Superintendent Coal Mining you will be responsible for leading a dynamic team of six (4) Coal Mining Supervisors and two (2) Coal Coordinators to achieve a safe, on-time and within budget delivery of Coal Mining’s Production goals. The coal mining fleet consists of twenty (18) trucks, two 300t excavators and three large loaders plus ancillary equipment.

The role is part of the broader Production Coal team that is a progressive, engaged and motivated team focused on continuing to improve our inclusive culture where everyone is valued.

Your key focus will be to safely increase equipment utilisation and performance in order to surpass current benchmarks, guiding this site to a world-class standard. You will develop and engage your people so that they share this goal and own initiatives designed to achieve it.

You will build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders and foster a continuous improvement culture by identifying opportunities for change and thinking outside the square.

This role is based at Saraji mine, Central Queensland and is being offered as a residential or DIDO role.

About You

You will possess the following:

  • Demonstrated people leadership and production experience at minimum Supervisor level within a Coal Mining environment, preferably to have had some exposure at Superintendent level
  • Demonstrated coal-mining equipment practical experience
  • Ability to manage a high intensity mining operation with multiple interactions with other processes
  • Exposure to coal blending and ROM management
  • Ability to motivate, coach, lead change and develop established teams of experienced people
  • A demonstrated ability in continuous improvements around Safety, Cost and Productivity
  • Experience and or exposure to BHP Operating System will be highly regarded
