The role of Clinician is responsible for providing effective, contemporary and evidence based clinical assessments and advice which are required to assist people with disability access the NDIS.

The Assessment and Referral Team works closely with potential new NDIS participants and key stakeholders including other government and non-government agencies, community organisations, and medical and allied health professionals state-wide to increase the number of NDIS participants in QLD.

Degree qualifications in allied health, nursing, human services, social or behavioural sciences, or a related field from a recognised tertiary institution with eligibility for full registration with the relevant registration board or membership with the relevant professional association.

Key Responsibilities Of This Role

  • Undertake comprehensive specialist disability assessments to support a person with disability to access the NDIS.
  • Prepare high quality reports, submissions, briefs and other documentation for clients presenting with complex needs, within specified time frames and in line with relevant practice and procedures.
  • Actively contribute to the end-to-end intensive case management approach to support a person with a disability to access the NDIS.
  • Maintain an active clinical caseload of individuals with complex needs.
  • Mentor and support PO2/PO3 Clinicians to develop a clinical practice framework that supports achievement of program goals.
  • Provide support to the Senior Clinician on consultations for the Assessment and Referral Team and external providers.
  • Provide support to the Manager and Principal Team Leader in ensuring the team delivers high quality support services and appropriate service responses to assist people with disability to access the NDIS.
  • Contribute to analysis, review and evaluation of clinical processes and procedures to inform future planning and strategies designed to remove obstacles and challenges for people with disability accessing the NDIS.
  • Create and maintain client records consistent with departmental and legislative requirements.
