About the Role

The Sunshine Coast University Hospital facilitates the delivery of enhanced health services to the Sunshine Coast Region. With full emergency and acute care capacity including an integrated regional cancer centre, Special Care Nursery, Neonatal Intensive Care and psychiatric inpatient unit, the Sunshine Coast University Hospital is located on a 20 hectare site on Kawana Way in Birtinya.

Spotless is part of the consortium awarded the project and now delivers a wide range of hard facilities management services that commenced in 2016 and continues for a period of 25 years.

We currently have an opportunity for a self-motivated, reliable Grounds & Gardens Attendant. This full time positions is part of a diverse team responsible for implementing the maintenance service plan in the building services department in relation to the grounds and gardens for the precinct.

The Grounds and Gardens Attendant role, whilst responsive to seasonal weather and growing conditions, is responsible for:-

  • Maintaining an aesthetically pleasing landscape that is both functional and complementary to the Precinct and Academic Precinct and the local environment.
  • The Grounds and Gardens Attendant helps promote a positive image of the Precinct and Academic Precinct to all users and members of the public.
  • Ensure that circulation routes across the Precinct and Academic Precinct are accessible to all users.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a similar grounds and gardens role including the ability to complete a multitude of daily assigned tasks;
  • Knowledge of herbicides, pesticides and safe work practices;
  • Relevant Qualifications;
  • Experience using hand & power tools appropriate to the position;
  • Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
  • The ability to work autonomously yet be part of a broader team including assisting others when required;
  • Strong eye for detail, and an ability to meet deadlines;
  • Willingness to be exceptionally flexible in taking on a number of different tasks and challenges;
  • Ability to work with discretion and utmost professionalism as regards all issues of a sensitive or confidential nature.
