Job Description

We are seeking applications from early career Environmental Coordinators to work on the recently awarded $130 million Bruce Highway Upgrade Project (Pumicestone Road to Steve Irwin Way). This is an exciting opportunity to commence work right away on a project that is newly forming, you will gain experience from a wide array of project phases and work closely with other senior environmental staff.

As an Environmental Coordinator you should demonstrate a willingness and commitment to the environmental management practice and show drive to figure out effective and efficient controls and mitigation to risks on our projects. You will be have solid interpersonal skills and be comfortable working in a team, you will want to challenge the norms and always look for a better solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaboratively working with staff at all levels of the project; providing support and advice on environmental and sustainability matters
  • Developing and reviewing related plans and procedures
  • Conducting regular environmental and sustainability audits/inspections
  • Undertaking and/or reviewing environmental monitoring, including engagement of specialist subconsultants where required
  • Negotiating and procuring project operational permits, licenses and approvals
  • Reviewing environmental and sustainability data to ensure ongoing compliance with our Integrated Management System and legislative requirements
  • Preparing and reviewing monthly environmental and sustainability reports and assisting managers with legislative reporting
  • Contributing to the achievement of environmental and sustainability objectives and targets and reporting back to management and teams on progress.

About you

You will have a high regard for safety, environment & quality standards in everything you do; your experience will demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Engineering, Management, Science or other related discipline
  • Working knowledge of environmental legislation, approval compliance requirements, and regulators
  • Environmental monitoring and inspection experience
  • Ability to work autonomously when required
  • A proactive self-starter with strong problem solving and communication skills
  • The ability to travel to various operational sites across Queensland.
