The School of Veterinary Science has a rich history having been founded in 1936 and has a well-deserved reputation for graduating self-reliant, independent and highly capable veterinarians with plenty of initiative and drive. As one of the largest Veterinary science groups in the Southern Hemisphere, its diverse group of academic and clinical staff contribute to animal science, health and welfare through innovative, practical research, advanced veterinary services and successful industry partnerships.

The Opportunity

The successful applicant will undertake teaching and research in the field of veterinary reproduction including anatomy, physiology/biology and behaviour, as well as applied clinical and animal production aspects related to reproduction in common domestic animals. The applicant will be expected to have experience in advanced reproductive technologies in males and females (such as semen/oocyte/embryo preservation, artificial insemination, embryo transfer, in-vitro fertilisation), for research and field applications with a focus on production animals.

The appointee will be expected to contribute to the national and international research profile of the School, and will be expected to supervise students in higher degree by research (HDR) programs, establish a research program, and obtain external grant funding.

This position is located at The University of Queensland’s picturesque Gatton Campus. Gatton Campus, UQ combines its Queensland Agricultural College heritage with modern research and teaching facilities in veterinary science and agriculture. Just over an hour’s drive west of Brisbane and five kilometres from the local township, the 1068-hectare Gatton campus offers a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and world-class facilities.

Our Ideal Candidate

Applicants should have a degree in Veterinary Science (or equivalent), registrable in Queensland. Ideally you will have a PhD and experience in research in Animal Reproduction, along with a demonstrated ability to teach students at undergraduate, postgraduate and/or professional level. Successful applicants will also have evidence of successful applications for research funding and have published research results in peer-reviewed journals.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time continuing position at Academic Level B.

For Academic Level B, the remuneration package will be in the range $99,542 - $118,206 (FTE), plus superannuation of up to 17%
