JOB DESCRIPTION

With an expected mine life of 30+ years, it will underpin a long-term iron ore business and provide sustainable benefits to the regional community in which we operate. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.

We have an opportunity for an experienced and capable Lubrication Technician to join our Maintenance team at the Karara Mine Site.

Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, the Lubrication Technician is responsible for ongoing maintenance and installation of mechanical components and equipment, ensuring operational requirements meet Karara standards of safety, efficiency and quality.

This position operates on an 8 days on 6 days off roster and is FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure daily workloads are prioritised and planned to meet deadlines
  • Actively and attentively conduct prestart inspections on maintenance vehicles and equipment, rectifying identified defects where possible ensuring equipment is in a safe condition before use
  • Inspect and scope all job requirements before carrying out maintenance tasks reviewing detailed job plans, identifying specialist tool or equipment requirements and conducting risk assessments to ensure the task is completed in a timely, cost effective manner and safety is not compromised
  • Identify and raise required maintenance notifications in SAP for future/corrective/preventative maintenance tasks
  • Conduct risk assessments prior to completing all maintenance tasks ensuring all hazards and risks are identified, mitigated where possible. Ensure all the correct safety documentation is completed. i.e. Take 5, JHA’s, relative permits
  • Ensure all tooling that is signed out is returned and signed back in to the tool store upon completion of each task
  • Provide input on Short Term Interval Control task management assisting in the identification of any remedial actions to ensure tasks are completed in the planned timeframe and safety is not compromised
  • Inspect, tag and report all out of service tooling or equipment requiring repair
  • Proactively record comments on work orders after the completion of each task noting identified opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure all materials are available before starting a task and that any preworks are completed to the required quality
  • Complete post outage inspections and relative documentation ensuring equipment is ready to be brought back in to service
  • Close all work orders in SAP upon completion of maintenance tasks
  • Complete daily timesheets outlining specific tasks carried out on that day
  • Communicate and escalate downtime of equipment to your supervisor immediately as per the Downtime Escalation Process

Key Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Demonstrated experience in a Technician Lubrication role or similar in a mining or other heavy industry environment
  • Experience working with hydraulic and lubrication systems to fault find and complete required maintenance
  • Experience reading and interpreting technical documents including maintenance plans and equipment drawings
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining heavy tooling service reports
  • "C" Class Drivers License
  • High Risk Work License (Forklift)

Desirable:

  • Experience interpreting and working with hydraulic schematics
  • Trade qualification or experience in a mechanical maintenance position
  • High Risk Work License (Rigging)
  • Working in Confined Space
  • Working at Heights
