Family Support Specialist

Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Community Heal... - Logan Central, QLD

Voluntary, Charity & Social Work
Source: uWorkin

Please note that it is a genuine requirement that this position be filled by an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person in accordance with s25 of the Anti-discrimination Act 1991 (Qld).

About the role:
The FWS Family Wellbeing Support Specialist will work with families in partnership to empower and build their agency to make effective change and overcome their identified family challenges. The role is heavily outreach based, engaging families in their homes, and translating initial engagement into a strong ongoing partnership. Once engaged, the role will not identify the family issues in a practitioner-led assessment, rather deliver interventions that build family awareness and insight into their history and current family challenges in order for families to self-identify their key challenges and lead their own change.

The FWS Family Wellbeing Support Specialist delivers brief therapeutic interventions and targeted family wellbeing practice strategies that achieve the core family outcomes of the program.

In addition, the Family Wellbeing Support Specialist will take a leadership role in the team by mentoring assigned FWS Case Managers to help improve their practice efficacy and build their knowledge and application of brief therapeutic counselling skills. The Family Wellbeing Support Specialist will also lead case management reviews with FWS Case Managers and FWS Family Practitioners, ensuring fidelity to the program model of care. The role will also provide ad-hoc case guidance and support to team members.
