With over 100 years in the sector, they own and operate large-scale, high-quality bauxite mines and alumina refineries which supply Alumina & Hydrate to the global stage. With the ever-increasing demand for high quality alumina, this blue chip mining corporation has sanctioned a capital works program where $200m will be committed to each year for the next three years at their refinery in Gladstone.

Reporting into the Engineering Superintendent, you will work as a technical expert in electrical engineering, while representing the owners team while signing off on EPC work. You will participate in the Project Team during the planning, construction, commissioning through to handover to the Operations Team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assurance for the electrical engineering discipline within the sustaining capital portfolio.
  • Providing technical guidance to the project management team with all Electrical related works being carried out.
  • Ensure all electrical components of the projects comply with statutory and regulatory requirements along with company policies and procedures.
  • Develop technical specifications to meet project specific objectives.
  • Develop scopes of work and specifications for equipment supply and construction packages.
  • Provide on-site construction and commissioning supervision and technical support.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, documents, specifications and scopes
  • Resolution of technical and design issues
  • Providing regular updates to the Engineering Superintendent including work progress, risks and priorities

Demonstrate experience and education required:

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering and RPEQ (or eligible).
  • Electrical Engineering experience in heavy industry, smelting or refinery environment.
  • High voltage systems experience.
  • Owners’ team / client representative experience while overseeing a design-based consultancy.
  • CFSP, TUV or similar certification in Functional Safety will be highly regarded.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
