About the role

  • The Leading Hand Electrician will provide trade assistance and guidance to the Electricians, and supporting the Coordinator Electrical Services in the coordination of activities for the Section to ensure the reliability, availability and serviceability of Council plant and assets.
  • The Wage Rate for this position is $1,261.50 gross per week plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.4% superannuation.
  • In addition, a leading hand allowance of $12.04 per day will be paid to the successful candidate of this position.
  • This is a permanent full-time position, which is based at the Charlton Depot.
How to be successful in this position - Success Criteria * Hold the mandatory qualification(s), training and/or experience, as outlined under the Success Criteria in the Position Description (attached).
  • Ability to supervise and provide leadership to a small team undertaking electrical services activities.
  • Ability to assist in the provision of mentoring and training in conjunction with supervisors and trainers.
  • Sound oral and written communication, and numeracy skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to provide accurate and timely advice in a helpful manner.
  • Demonstrated time management skills including the ability set work program priorities, monitor workflows and organise sectional resources in a cost efficient and effective manner.
  • Demonstrated relevant post trade experience with the ability to prepare estimates and undertake technical inspections.
  • Knowledge of departmental programs, policies and activities relevant to the work area.
  • Experience in the use of information technology relevant to Council operations including Council’s Pathway, Document Management and Technology One system or the ability and demonstrated commitment to quickly develop and acquire these skills.
  • Commitment to Council’s Organisational Value and Behaviour of Safety and wellbeing.
