Downer holds a long-term Asset Management and Facilities Management contract with the Department of Corrections and the Ministry of Justice. This involves the proactive management and delivery to the national portfolio of facilities including 16 prisons, 100 courts and 157 community correctional sites. This contract underpins the provision of availability of facilities to support core Government services. We are currently seeking a Team Leader to join our onsite team based at Mt Eden Corrections Facility.

About the role:

Our Team Leaders are key to the successful delivery of maintenance services to the Prison sites that we manage. Reporting to the Site Manager, this is a role that requires a hands-on practical approach and provides an opportunity for an ambitious and resilient individual to lead a team to deliver services within KPI and to provide quality, value for money work.

On a daily basis, you will be leading, managing and supporting the undertaking of scheduled maintenance services, first response and reactive jobs in order to mitigate disruption to the customer's activities, all the while ensuring safe working practices are implemented and corrective actions are taken where required.

Prisons are sometimes challenging work environments, so you must be confident and able to conduct yourself professionally at all times. You will also understand the 24/7 nature of a prison site and be prepared to sometimes manage jobs and situations afterhours.

About you:

Along with the above attributes, our ideal candidate will also have

  • Trade qualification with a minimum of 5 years' experience (ideally plumbing, electrical or HVAC background)
  • Proactive approach with a strong customer service ethic;
  • Good oral and written skills;
  • Intermediate PC and keyboard skills;
  • Proven experience in the operational leadership of a multi trade service delivery team;
  • Experience in planning, scheduling and rostering people resources;
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and relationship skills;
  • Motivated, positive and outcome orientated;
  • Hold a current, full driver's license.
